The Weedoboth Fighter / Bomber is an Illuminate air unit. It serves the roles of both a Fighter and a Bomber, and thus is both an Anti-Air and Anti-Ground unit, as implied by the name "We Do Both". It contradicts the usual Illuminate design philosophy of having highly specialised units with its multi-purpose weapon loadout.
The Weedoboth is a jack of all trades, master of none, which means that dedicated aircraft do a better job at specific roles:
As a fighter it is individually superior to the Wasp in health and equal in damage and speed, although the Weedoboth costs more resources and time to build. When upgraded, the Weedoboth has the massive advantage of flares. This makes the Weedoboth much stronger than the Wasp, but still more costly.
As a bomber it falls a bit behind the Eagle Eye when unupgraded as the Eagle Eye is cheaper and starts with Damage over Time, but when upgraded surpasses it. The Eagle Eye will gain more bomb damage, while the Weedoboth will gain defensive flares, much more bomb damage, bomb damage over time, and shielding. The Weedoboth is also faster.
Conversely, this unit offers the benefit of being a multi-tasker, meaning less micro management is required than if you had an air force of half fighters, and half bombers. It also allows you to adapt to changing threats much more smoothly. The overall firepower you get from the Weedoboth is greater than a combined force of Eagle Eyes and Wasps of the same cost.
Unlike the more specialized Vulthoo, the Weedoboth features a modest radar system and double the visual range, making it useful as an early game scout.
Before research is taken into account, the Weedoboth is functionally identical to the Cybran Gemini. With research the Weedoboth will gain stronger bombing abilities and defensive flares, which negate some anti-air damage.
the infinite war battle pack one DLC includes the teleport ability for illuminate air units. use it to get around clusters of AA guns and airnomos.
