Supreme Commander 2 Game Manual Background InformationEdit
Thalia Kael was born on Cathedral, one of the primary Illuminate planets. Named after one of the freedom fighters that fought against the Order of the Illuminate during the later days of the Infinite War, Thalia also had distant ties to Evaluator Kael, the cruel leader of The Order.
Thalia's father, Jeremiah Kael, was a businessman who, post-Coalition, became a wealthy power broker that moved freely between all three factions. His high profile, however, made him a target for anti-Illuminate groups within both his own faction and the UEF.
Thalia's mother, Jane Kael, died of a degenerative disease shortly after Thalia's birth. With her father frequently away on business, she was mostly watched over by her older brother Jaran.
Shortly after Thalia turned 10, Thalia's father was killed by UEF nationalists. Thalia and Jaran spent the rest of their childhood being passed between family members.
Following the lead of her brother, Thalia expressed an interest in joining the military. She showed extremely strong leadership skills, and was promoted to Cadet-of- Swords, the second highest rank in the Illuminate academy, by the time she was 21. At this point, she was sent to Coalition Commander School on Altair II, where she excelled in her studies.
It was around this time that her brother was diagnosed with the same degenerative disease that killed their mother. With Jaran unable to work, Thalia left the academy early to take care of her brother.
Thalia Kael's adventure begins with another terrorist mission from The Royal Guardians, in a seemingly 'noble' crusade against the so-called 'tyrannical' Illuminate government. Thalia soon gains success after the sinking of a Cybran navy on Gareth V and freeing imprisoned Guardians from a UEF guarded prison. Thalia's allegiance suddening changes though, with her first introduction to Commander Gauge. Thalia first meets Gauge, when he arrives at a Conti Geothermal Complex where a UEF invasion was about to take place, to provide assistance to Thalia in this crusade.
Thalia then meets Gauge again at the Illuminate-protected, Coaltion Center of Quantum Science and Technology, being given very little detail about the mission. Gauge then provides the intel that they are to destroy the establishment, provoking Thalia's obligation to the operation. Thalia ungratefully complies and succeeds at destroying the Quantum Science and Technology facility. Gauge then nukes the city behind it, and after Thalia's provoke, launches several more at the city.
Thalia aggresively pursues Gauge through his teleporter to what he calls Shiva Prime. Thalia then arrives at the portal to Shiva Prime, to find her old friend, Dominic Maddox, in a confrontation with three other commanders over control of the site. Gauge then launches several nukes at the other three commanders, sparking their catacyslmic battle. Thalia and Maddox successfully defeat the commanders, only to be nuked by Gauge, who comfortably enters the gate to Shiva Prime.
Maddox and Thalia survive the blast by Hunkering, and choose to remain and defend the gate from the other Guardians, rather than persue Gauge, ending the campaign. Thalia is seen again during the beginning of the 4th Cybran campaign, fighting with Dominic Maddox, to defend the portal. Ivan then swiftly defeats the three commanders, and persuades Thalia to stay with Maddox to defend the portal from further Royal Guardians.
Playing as Thalia, you kill five commanders in the campaign: Kita, Mosely, Haen, Hazleton, and Teller.
Ivan's speech cutsceneEdit
During Ivan's speech's cutscene, Thalia is seen at a graveyard, handcuffed and with two guardians, being emotionally crushed by the sight of her brother, Jaran's, tombstone. The cause of death was his chronic genetic disease.
