Why is this under the category of "Experimental units" and "UEF research"?
I tried this with a friend the other day, and while we were able to create the basic buildings/units of the other faction, we could not build anything that needed to be researched (artillery, experimentals, gantries, etc). We tried capturing the engineer/research station in various orders, as well as creating a research station with the captured engineer, and nothing got us results as described in this article. We did find, however, that units that were captured retained any special abilities they had before capture, like teleport. Has anybody else had this strategy work for them? If not, I propose we delete this article.

It works fine, call up your tech tree and look next to your army's symbol on the bottom right. You should see < and > icons either side of it. These buttons allow you to select different tech trees. How else do you think the picture in this article was taken? Can't build a cybranusaurus without research and you aren't going to steal one as the UEF--Mantafirefly 21:07, August 12, 2010 (UTC)
It does NOT work in campaing, you're 100% right. In campaign, you can only use unlocked research, and other faction's research is fully locked by default. So no foreign tech in story.
