The Sooprizer was included with the Infinite War Battle Pack One DLC.

The Sooprizer is an experimental gunship of the illuminate, providing focused gunship fire as opposed to the more indiscriminate technique of the Darkenoid. It costs 1750 Mass, 8000 Energy and takes 3:30 to construct.

The research cost is 14 and the cumulative cost is 26 points.

Comparison to the Cybran Soul Ripper II[]

Despite the much greater cost of the Sooprizer, both gunships share a similar amount of firepower, with the Soul Ripper II technically having more overall due to AA weapons and splash damage on some of its weapons. The Sooprizer instead features much greater survivability through having much tougher armor and also much longer range, enabling it to expose itself to less AA fire whilst in firing range, this range benefit also allows it to switch targets with ease. In a straight fight, the Soul Ripper II would defeat a Sooprizer by a considerable margin.

Tips[]

  • Despite it being one of the toughest airborne units in the game, it is by no means invincible. Each Sooprizer is an expensive investment so be sure to retreat from battle and repair it to keep it alive. Obviously, supporting it with Weedoboths will compensate for having no air-to-air capabilities beyond shooting at other gunships and transports.
  • Despite giving the appearance of being streamlined, the Sooprizer is considerably slower than the Darkenoid, furthermore, it's combined DPS is noticeably less, so if you're heading to assault a base or intercept a large ground force, the Darkenoid may well be the way to go. On the other hand, much of the Darkenoid`s firepower comes from the main quantum beam and the artillery bombs, both of which require it to be suicidally close to a target, bad news if the target happens to be covered by lots of AA.
  • The Sooprizer is perfect for Suppression of Enemy Air Defense (SEAD) strikes, thanks to it's long range, high DPS and high HP.
  • Given its huge cost, the effect of factory veterancy is exaggerated considerably. Try to use an experienced Experimental Gantry whenever possible.
  • The Sooprizers long range and excellent single-target damage makes it ideal for destroying land-based experimentals.
  • The Sooprizer also has radar stealth to help it get around the map easier, somewhat making up for its slow movement speed and giving it the ''Sooprizer'' aspect of it's name.

The information in the unitbox is not 100% accurate, The sooprizer has a main gun that fires two projectiles at 750 damage each with a rate of fire of 0.4

It has 2 secondary lasers (not three) that each fire 1 projectile for 100 damage with a rate of fire of 3 that is 300 dps per secondary laser, not 333 and it only has two of those weapons (not three) for a combined dps of 600.

Adding all three weapons together gives us (300+300+600) 1200 total dps. None of the weapons have a damage radius so it is all single target only.

Trivia[]

Its name "Sooprizer" is likely a corruption of the word "Surpriser", as gunships are excellent for devastating surprise attacks on bases (but the Sooprizer is slow enough that few will be surprised by its appearance at their base).
