The Nuclear Launch Facility is an Illuminate structure that is capable of building and launching strategic missiles. Strategic missiles are extremely powerful but take an large amount of time, research and resources to build and launch. Nukes can be considered the ultimate splash damage weapon, as they are best suited for non-experimental armies and tightly packed bases. Nukes lose some effectiveness against lone major experimentals as it requires multiple nukes to down a single experimental. Nuclear missiles can be stopped by Nuclear Defense structures, so accurate intelligence is required to prevent wasteful use of nuclear missiles.

NotesEdit

  • Unlike the UEF's Tactical / Nuclear Missile Launch Facility and the Cybran's Nuclear Launch and Defense Facility the Illuminate facility does not have the capability to launch tactical missiles.
  • To compensate for the lack of a built in tactical missile launcher the Illuminate nuke facility cost slightly less research. The Illuminate can launch tactical missiles from the separate, and much cheaper, Tactical Missile Launcher.
  • The Boomerang Nuke Redirector introduced in the DLC can reprogram strategic missiles and send them back at the launching facility. Reprogramed nukes cannot be stopped by anti nukes.
  • the quantum floating technology allows Nuclear Launch Facilities and their defenses to be placed on the water, giving it a huge advantage on water-based maps as they can be placed at the edge of the map in large quantities, to nuclearly out-flank the enemy without islands of any sort. this also provides protection at least until they blow their nuclear load, revealing the facility.
